In an industry notorious for throwing parties for even the flimsiest of reasons, the designer who once enthusiastically attended more than his share of them now says he’s not into empty socializing. “Parties are less interesting to me at this point of my life. I’d rather be home with John and the dogs and order food in,” he said.
Having his studio at home saves Mr. Green from having to travel to design his own line and to save on rent. His clothing store, opened in 2007 and modeled after the general store his grandfather ran in Marion, Ohio, in the 1940s, is just a block or so away. Most of the furniture and artwork in the house was purchased from local stores and individuals.
Both Hillary Clinton’s tropical mango pantsuit and Betty’s buttercup-colored outfit brought some sunshine to their respective party conventions.
